Australia Statement
I visited Australia several times between 2013 and 2018. I plan to return when that is again possible. On my first visit, the 500-year old strangler figs in the Atherton Tablelands region of Queensland astonished me. Their aerial roots look like myriad trunks and form a dense and varied woody curtain-like structure. During later trips to Canberra, eucalyptus stumps and fallen trunks inspired me with their quirky compositions and strong textures.
